Dermody Properties Presents a $5,000 Thanksgiving Capstone Award to the Food Bank of South Jersey

We recently announced the recipients of the Annual Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award. The Food Bank of South Jersey has received $5,000 to assist in its mission of providing food to people in need, teaching them to eat nutritiously and helping them find sustainable ways to improve their lives.

The Food Bank of South Jersey is a nonprofit organization located in Pennsauken Township and a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization. Last year, the Food Bank of South Jersey distributed nearly 18 million pounds of food, which is equivalent to about 15 million meals shared with the South Jersey community.

According to Feeding America, more than 650,000 New Jersey residents are food insecure and one in 11 children face hunger. The Food Bank of South Jersey has aided residents of the community for more than 35 years and persisted during the pandemic, which caused an increase in demand, a decline in food donations, and disruptions that made providing food difficult.

Every year, senior management at Dermody Properties selects the recipients for the annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award with the overall goal of helping nonprofit organizations address the increased need experienced during the holidays. Timothy Walsh, Partner and Chief Investment Officer for Dermody Properties, has specifically designated the Food Bank of South Jersey as one of this year’s recipients.

“The Thanksgiving Capstone Award allows our company to contribute to organizations that are making a positive impact in the communities we are part of,” said Walsh. “We are honored to provide this gift to the Food Bank of New Jersey, knowing the organization works diligently to serve southern New Jersey and plays a pivotal part in supporting those facing hunger.”

The Dermody Properties Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award is uniquely directed each year by the executive management committee of Dermody Properties, which includes Chairman and CEO Michael Dermody; President Douglas A. Kiersey, Jr.; Partner and Chief Capital Officer Kathleen Briscoe; Partner and Chief Strategy Officer Amy Curry; Chief Operating Officer Elizabeth Kauchak; Chief Financial Officer Douglas Lanning; and Partner and Chief Investment Officer Timothy Walsh.

Dermody Properties has selected seven additional recipient organizations and has awarded $25,000 to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, $10,000 each to Collier Cares: Hurricane Ian Relief in Tampa, Florida and the Northfield Township Food Pantry in Glenview, Illinois; and $5,000 each to Feeding America of Riverside and San Bernardino in Riverside, California; North Texas Food Bank in Plano, Texas; The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, Arizona; and St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, Arizona.
