Dermody Properties Grants a $5,000 Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award to GRACE

We have announced the recipients of our annual Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award. GRACE, a Grapevine, Texas-based nonprofit relief agency, has received $5,000 to assist in its mission to provide food, clothing, financial assistance and other vital necessities to people who are in need due to a limited income or recent emergency.

Every year, senior management at Dermody Properties selects the recipients for the annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award with the overall goal of helping nonprofit organizations address the increased need experienced during the holidays. This year, Elizabeth Kauchak, Chief Operating Officer at Dermody Properties, has specifically designated GRACE as a recipient.

A donation like the Thanksgiving Capstone Award helps GRACE provide emergency assistance to more than 1,200 families per year. In addition to emergency assistance, the organization operates a community clinic, food pantry, transitional housing and seasonal programs including Feed Our Kids, which provides children in local apartment complexes with lunch throughout the summer while they aren’t in school, and a back-to-school supply drive.

“The Capstone Award is designed to recognize the organizations that are dedicated to making a positive impact in their communities,” said Kauchak. “As our nation continues to navigate through COVID-19, so many of our neighbors and their families are facing financial challenges. We’re pleased to help support an organization that provides everyday necessities and relief to families and children in need.”

The Dermody Properties Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award is uniquely directed each year by the executive management committee of Dermody Properties, which includes Chairman and CEO Michael C. Dermody; President Douglas A. Kiersey, Jr.; Partner and Chief Capital Officer Kathleen S. Briscoe; Chief Operating Officer Elizabeth Kauchak; Chief Financial Officer Douglas Lanning; and Partner and Chief Investment Officer Timothy Walsh.

“Every year, the Thanksgiving Capstone Award brings our company, our executive team and our communities come together to help those organizations who are truly making an impact in the lives of people in need,” said Dermody. “At Dermody Properties, this award has become a tradition to help ensure the communities in which we do business have adequate resources. With the COVID-19 pandemic, we know that now, more than ever, these gifts are critical to people in need.  We are pleased to support GRACE and recognize its efforts to provide emergency assistance and help fulfill the basic needs of our most vulnerable populations at a time when they need it most.”

Dermody Properties has selected five additional recipient organizations and will award $25,000 to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada in Sparks, Nev. and $5,000 each to the Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry in Elmhurst, Ill., St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, Ariz., Feeding America of Riverside and San Bernardino in Riverside, Calif. and The American Heart Association in Newark, Del.
