Dermody Properties’ Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award Provides $50,000 to One America Appeal for Hurricane Relief and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada
We recently announced the recipients of the annual Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award. One America Appeal for Hurricane Relief (One America Appeal) and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN) will each receive $25,000 to assist in their efforts during the holiday season. The Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award is presented each year during the holiday season to help nonprofit organizations address the increased need they experience during the holidays.
FBNN will use its award to help fund its School Pantry program, through which FBNN sets up and stocks food pantries in schools throughout the Washoe County School District. There are currently 24 school pantries operating in Washoe County serving approximately 1,687 people every month. Interested parties can help further the work of the FBNN’s School Pantry program by donating at fbnn.org.
One America provides relief to those recovering from the devastating effects of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. This year Dermody Properties is presenting $25,000 to One America to assist with their recovery efforts. As of October 21, One America Appeal had raised $31 million in donations. Donations can be made at OneAmericaAppeal.org.
The Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award is directed by the executive management committee of Dermody Properties, which includes CEO and Chairman Michael Dermody; President Douglas A. Kiersey, Jr.; Chief Financial Officer Douglas Lanning; Dermody Capital President Steven Karpf; and Chief Acquisition Officer Timothy Walsh.
“We are able to help our communities through the Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award, which has become a tradition,” said Michael Dermody, Chairman and CEO of Dermody Properties. “This year we wanted to not only help a local community in which we do business, through the award to FBNN, but we also wanted to help the many communities in the country that have been affected by these devastating hurricanes.”
Dermody will present the award to FBNN President and CEO, Al Brislain on December 8 at the annual Share Your Christmas Drive-by Food Drive. The Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award will help the Food Bank of Northern Nevada deliver 75,000 meals through its vital School Pantry program.
