Dermody Properties 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award Provides $50,000 to Benefit Hungry Families and Children

RENO, Nev. - Dermody Properties/DP Partners has announced that its annual Capstone Award will be presented to two organizations that will use the funds to provide food to 75,000 people, and also helps provide breakfast to 4,000 more low-income children each school day. The Capstone Award is granted annually during the Thanksgiving season by Dermody Properties/DP Partners.

The Washoe County School District will receive a $25,000 award to expand its Universal Breakfast Program. The donation will allow the School District to purchase the additional equipment to feed breakfast to nearly 4000 additional children per day by expanding the program in Hug High School, Traner Middle School and Veterans, Smithridge and Natchez Elementary Schools.
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada will also receive a $25,000 gift for their Food Purchase Program, which will supply enough non-perishable food with nutritionally-based food products to help approximately 75,000 people.  Of those, about 35,000 are children under the age of 18.
“Dermody Properties presents these awards as one of our ways of giving thanks to our community,” said Michael Dermody, Chairman of Dermody Properties. “We began this tradition in 2006, and feel fortunate – especially in these difficult times - to be able to give back each year to such worthy community organizations as the Food Bank and Washoe County School District.”
The Capstone Award is directed by the Executive Management Committee of Dermody Properties that includes Par Tolles, Doug Lanning, John Atwell and Michael Dermody.
