Dermody Properties Wins Industrial Leader Award for Sustainable Logistics Development from HOOPP
Dermody Properties is pleased to announce it has received the prestigious Industrial Leader Award from The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) at their 13th annual Leadership in Environmental Advancement Program (LEAP) Conference.
The Logistics Campus, a planned 10-building logistics park developed by Dermody Properties, was honored with the Industrial Leader Award at a ceremony held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 in Toronto, Ontario. The award recognizes Dermody Properties’ commitment to sustainability. Located at the former site of the Allstate Corporation headquarters in Glenview, Illinois, the award recognizes The Logistics Campus for integrating material reuse initiatives and renewable energy generation throughout the building development process, and for sourcing building materials from neighboring projects, which diverted 11,000 tons of metal, steel and copper from landfills.
“We are honored to receive this award from HOOPP in recognition of our company’s sustainable industrial development efforts,” said Douglas A. Kiersey, Jr., CEO and President at Dermody Properties. “Environmental, social and governance practices are a testament to Dermody Properties’ unwavering commitment to our mission, values, and the deep-rooted history of community involvement.”
The Leadership in Environmental Advancement Program is HOOPP Real Estate’s signature sustainability program promoting education, recognition and innovation, inspiring action around sustainability and on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. HOOPP established the LEAP Awards to celebrate outstanding sustainability achievement in the areas of technological innovation, climate mitigation, community impact, tenant collaboration, operational performance and greenhouse gas reductions.
Dermody Properties has adopted ESG policies and practices across all aspects of its offices and operations. By continually enhancing social and environmental strategies and practicing good governance, Dermody Properties not only continues to focus on giving back, ethics, goodwill and community betterment, but also sustainability as a whole.
