Mitsui-Soko leases 38,400 sf in Dermody Properties’ LogistiPort at Savannah to expand its East Coast distribution center

RENO, Nev. – Dermody Properties (DP), parent corporation of DP Partners, announced today that Mitsui-Soko, a worldwide leader in the logistics industry, has leased 38,400 square feet of warehousing/distribution space in DP’s LogistiPort at Savannah business park in Pooler, Ga.  In late 2009, Mitsui-Soko opened a 60,000 square foot distribution center in an adjacent location near the LogistiPort, as the company’s primary East Coast distribution center. Mitsui-Soko at that time correctly anticipated the potential of the Georgia ports to expand the need for the company’s services in the future, and has now leased needed space from Dermody Properties.

Their relocation location in LogistiPort is at 101 Clyde Alexander Lane, Suite D, which is adjacent to their original Savannah area facility at 111 S. H. Morgan Parkway, in Bloomingdale.

Tokyo, Japan-based Mitsui-Soko is a warehousing and logistics industry leader with more than 90 years of experience. It handles a wide range of cargo, from electronic parts, raw materials, general consumer goods, and food, to equipment, machines, and other heavy items. With local subsidiaries in regions and countries such as North America, Europe, Asia, and China, Mitsui-Soko provides optimum land, sea, and air logistics network services that match each country’s logistics conditions and customs clearance system.

“Mitsui-Soko’s confidence in 2009 about the future potential of cargo volume through the Ports of Savannah was perfect,” said John Atwell, Dermody Properties COO. “The Savannah economy is certainly the beneficiary of their commitment to water transportation through the Ports, and their ability to continue to provide excellent customer service.”

The development is located just four miles from the main gate of the Port of Savannah and one mile from I-16. Savannah’s proximity to the Southeast’s major markets provides less than one-day delivery to Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Richmond, and the entire state of Florida.

The Dermody Properties team was led by Atwell and Dermody Properties was represented by David Sink of Colliers International Neely Dales, in Philadelphia. Mitsui-Soko was represented by Darren Ross of Grubb & Ellis in Atlanta, Georgia.

“We are very honored that Mitsui-Soko chose Dermody Properties and our LogistiPort at Savannah,” said Michael Dermody, CEO and Chairman of Dermody Properties. “We were particularly struck by Mitsui-Soko’s customer-focused organization, as that is what we constantly strive to be as well.”
