Dermody Properties Grants a $2,500 Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award to the North Texas Food Bank
We have announced the recipients of the annual Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award. Founded in 1982, the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is a nonprofit hunger-relief organization that distributes donated and purchased foods through a network of more than 200 partner agencies in 13 counties. Dermody Properties has donated $2,500 to the organization for their work to create a hunger-free and healthy North Texas.
As the holiday season approaches, NTFB believes that no one should face hunger alone. NTFB recently launched its 3rd Annual Face of Hunger holiday campaign to support the more than 800,000 North Texans experiencing food insecurity, which includes 1 in 5 children. Through December 31, Sammons Enterprises and the Beaumont Foundation of America are doubling contributions made to NTFB, up to $200,000. This means $1 will provide six nutritious meals.
Every year, senior management at Dermody Properties selects the recipients for the annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award with the overall goal of helping nonprofit organizations address the increased need experienced during the holidays. This year, Elizabeth Kauchak, Chief Operating Officer, has specifically designated NTFB as a recipient.
“While many families are trying to return to normal this holiday season, there are still hundreds of thousands of Texas residents who will continue to experience food insecurity,” said Kauchak. “I am proud of my colleagues at Dermody Properties who join me in recognizing this and that we are able to play an important role by contributing to a deserving organization like NTFB.”
The Dermody Properties Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award is uniquely directed each year by the executive management committee of Dermody Properties, which includes Chairman and CEO Michael Dermody; President Douglas A. Kiersey, Jr.; Partner and Chief Capital Officer Kathleen Briscoe; Chief Operating Officer Elizabeth Kauchak; Chief Financial Officer Douglas Lanning; and Partner and Chief Investment Officer Timothy Walsh.
“Every year, the Thanksgiving Capstone Award allows our company to help organizations who are truly making a difference in the lives of people in need,” said Dermody. “We are pleased to support NTFB and recognize their efforts to build better lives for the millions of Americans affected by food insecurity.”
Dermody Properties has selected six additional recipient organizations and will award $25,000 to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada in Sparks, Nev.; $5,000 each to Feeding America of Riverside & San Bernardino in Riverside, Calif., Saint Alphonsus Liguori Food Pantry in Prospect Heights, Ill., St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, Ariz. and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada in Reno, Nev.; and $2,500 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Texas in Austin, TX.
