Dermody Gifts $25,000 to Food Bank of Northern Nevada through Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award

Dermody is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award. Among this year’s seven recipients, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada received $25,000 to support its vital programs and services, which provide fresh, nourishing meals to local people in need.

FBNN is a nonprofit organization and a member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks leading the fight against hunger. This past year alone, FBNN provided more than 23 million wholesome meals to individuals and families throughout northern Nevada and the eastern Sierra Nevada in California.

The funds from the Thanksgiving Capstone Award will be used by FBNN to triple donations as part of its Giving Tuesday Campaign, which is focused on programs surrounding child nutrition. The campaign’s overall goal is to raise funds towards 150,000 meals for children in need.

“We are so grateful to Dermody for their tremendous partnership and support through the 2025 Thanksgiving Dermody Capstone award,” said Nicole Lamboley, President & CEO of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. “Supporting the children of our communities by making sure they have access to vital nutrition is something that we are all very passionate about.”

FBNN reports that one in five children in Nevada experiences food insecurity, meaning they do not know where their next meal is coming from. The organization helps more than 160,000 neighbors each month, with nearly half of its clients being children and seniors.

“Supporting our communities is at the core of our values and mission,” said Michael Dermody, Executive Chairman at Dermody. “Our Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award is more than a donation, it’s a recognition of the important work that organizations, like the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, are doing to support communities and address immediate food insecurity needs during the holidays.”

Dermody launched its Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award in 2008 as a way to thank the regions that it serves. FBNN holds a special place in that history, as it was the very first nonprofit to receive the Capstone Award. Each year, Dermody’s executive leadership team selects a number of local organizations with the specific goal of helping them address the heightened demand experienced during the holidays.

In addition to FBNN, six other nonprofits within Dermody’s key markets received this year’s Thanksgiving Capstone Awards, ranging from $5,000 to $25,000, for a combined $100,000. The recipient organizations include St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, Arizona; Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada in Reno, Nevada; Northfield Township Food Pantry in Glenview, Illinois; North Texas Food Bank in Plano, Texas; Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino in Southern California; and The Catholic Shrine of Immaculate Conception’s Saint Francis Table Soup Kitchen in Atlanta, Georgia.
