Joe Grimes is Senior Vice President of Development for Dermody. Based out of Chicago, he is responsible for providing due diligence, design, entitlement, budget and construction oversight for investment developments for lease, build-to-suit and tenant improvement projects within the Midwest region.

Mr. Grimes has more than 30 years of experience in the real estate and construction industry with a focus on industrial/warehouse facilities and site development.  Completed projects include e-retail, food grade, value-add and manufacturing facilities.  Mr. Grimes has completed more than 9 million square feet of industrial projects, many with brown field, redevelopment and extensive demolition components. His background includes overseeing development and construction of more than 850,000 SF of retail facilities.

Before joining Dermody in 2022, Mr. Grimes held development and construction roles providing due diligence, design and construction oversight at Trammell Crow, Meridian Design Build, Prologis and Opus.  Projects included build-to-suit, speculative, redevelopment and tenant improvement projects in the Midwest and Florida.

Mr. Grimes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. He is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional – LEED-AP.
