Newscast from KTVN Channel 2: Area Food Bank Receives $25,000 Donation

December 16, 2011 – The Food Bank of Northern Nevada got a big donation from a local realty company to help them, help the hungry in our community.

Friday morning Dermody Properties delivered a check for $25,000 to the Food Bank to help buy foods high in protein like peanut butter and eggs.

The Food Bank says the donation will go a long way towards feeding the hungry. “It’s amazing to get a gift like this. We have to buy many truckloads of food throughout the year and some of the most important things that we purchase are protein, it’s something that’s contributed very infrequently and we always have to buy it,” says Cherie Jamason, president and CEO of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

That money will help buy 100,000 meals which will be delivered to families in need by Christmas.
